Jack New Pond - Rock Island Illinois

Note: My methods of bottom drain and filter construction have been improved since this pond was build. Please review newer consultation projects to make sure you see the latest and greatest ideas.

The settling chamber is lined with wood and bottom drain piping is being installed.

The bottom drains are connected through the liner using the pipe boot.

The crew works on plumbing for the settling chamber/filter.

The drain covers are installed .

Jack works on the settling chamber.

The settling chamber is ready for rubber (RFR). You can see two 4" lines coming in from the bottom drains (top). There is a 4" line to drain the settling chamber.

In this picture we see a hole. This will be for a 4" line that will go to the barrel filter.

The rubber is installed in the settling chamber, and I am doing the pipe boots.

Ready for water.

The settling chamber is filled with water to make sure there are no leaks and to make sure the rubber fits the hole properly. The pipe in the middle will be a standpipe (used in leu of a gate valve).

The filter barrel is in place. In future years, I put the filter barrel right inside the settling chamber. This is more effecient, and saves room.

Bottom drains are visible under the pond water.
