Bickal Koi Farm: Koi House Blog
Line those tanks!
I have a walkway cut out between the old building and the new one.
The 3 big tanks are lined with foam and ready to have the rubber installed.
Dec 11 Oh yes, we have some progress! And its a good thing I got the roof done when I did because we got at least 12" of snow in 48 hours, and temps at night have been down to -5F.
Yesterday afternoon, it was 76F in the Greenhouse and like 10F outside. The furnace is set at 72F, so the solar gain is amazing! The liner is in all 3 main tanks, and two of them are full of water already.
Feb 1 We'll i'm finally back to working on the koi house! Filter pit is all built and lined with rubber. Plumbing is done, however I want to change a couple of things to save some space in the pumphouse. Still waiting on my water pumps to be dropped shipped. I have one of my pumps pumping the water up to the ceiling and splashing down. This is really helping to bring the water temp up. My other tanks are all at 60F, and the new building was at 50F. 57F as of this morning and climbing. Wont be long and I'll be able to move koi over to the new tanks!
The settling chamber with the stand pipes in
This pipe in the middle that splits off into two is where the pumps draw the water from. The 3" pipe to the right of that is the drain. The 3" pipe at the bottom edge of picture is the overflow.
Two 55 gallon Barrels Installed hanging inside settling chamber
Settling Chamber
Each barrel will get a slotted 6" tube in the center (not installed as of this picture)

Here are some pictures taken just a few days ago! I still need to build my bakki shower towers, do the flooring and insulate and cover the walls. Spring is coming, things outside have started thawing out. Ponds are usually thawed out by mid march here. I can't wait!
